Quick News: Italian Bass, Cesare Siepi, dies at age 87

Having a vocal career that spans nearly three generations is no easy feat. Cesare Siepi, renowned Italian bass, made his opera debut at age 18 in the northeastern Italian town of Schio. He continue to appeared regularly on practically every major opera stage around the world. He gave his last performance at the age of 71 with the Vienna State Opera.

Highly regarded among his musical colleagues, Siepi became a favorite Don Giovanni and Figaro. He was even chosen for Arturo Toscanini’s final performance and recording of Verdi Requiem in 1951.
